Just Us Girls challenge #840 - Word Week

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. I am here to share my card for this week's Just Us Girls challenge and this week is Word Week and Ina has given us the theme of 'bold'. You could go with a bold sentiment or image or even bold colours.  I can't wait to see that you create so come and join in the fun with us.  Our guest this month is Julia Aston so please pop over and show her some love.

I choose to go with bold colours and a bold background stamp so hopefully covered all the bases this week.  I used a rainbow of colours and a fun Uniko stamp which I stamped in black.  I hope you like it.

Plus I decorated the inside:

I began by cutting a white panel 4" x 5 1/4" and using my rainbow colours of ink pads blended my background.  I then used my Misti to stamp the birthday background stamp using black ink.  I also added some extra doodling using a white gelly roll pen, a yellow Posca pen and a gold metallic zig writer pen.  I added some scrap white card behind the panel and then adhered it to my card base using double sided tape.  For the inside I cut another white panel and blended the rainbow colours along the bottom (although I realised half way through that I started my rainbow from the wrong side oops!).  I stamped the present from the background and fussy cut it out and then blended over it with red and orange inks (using masking tape to try and keep the colours in the right place) and also added some white gelly roll pen dots.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre with black ink and then adhered the panel to my card base using double sided tape.

Just Us Girls challenge #836 - Word Week

Hello again friends and welcome back to my blog. I am here to share my card for this week's Just Us Girls challenge and it's Word Week and Bobby has chosen 'water'.  It could be a summer beach scene, a masculine river scene or even just a critter in a swimming/paddling pool.  I'm sure this is going to be a really popular week and I cannot wait to see all your gorgeous creations. 

I used an older, retired stamp set that has been in my stash for years but I don't think I've ever used it.  I love the clean lines and fun wavy sea, along with some fun clouds.  I'm even happy with my fussy cutting on this one!  I hope you like it too.

I began by stamping all my images onto alcohol marker friendly card and used my Promarkers to colour them in.  I don't have the dies so I fussy cut them out.  I cut a white panel 3 5/8" x 4 7/8" and added a teal blue mat layer using liquid glue.  I wanted a fairly clean and simple layout so clustered all my images together in the lower right corner and added them with a mix of liquid glue and foam squares.  I also added two clouds in the upper half of the card using liquid glue.  I white heat embossed the sentiment onto a scrap of the teal blue card and cut it out using a sentiment strips die and added that below the cluster using liquid glue.  The panel was adhered to my card base using double sided tape.  For the inside I cut a white panel 4" x 5 1/4" and added the wave image along the bottom and tucked the sailboat behind, using liquid glue.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre using blue ink and the panel was adhered to the card base using double sided tape.

Just Us Girls challenge #831 - Word Week

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. I am back to share my card for this week's Just Us Girls challenge and it's Word Week and Vicki has chosen 'play'. This is such a fun theme and open to lots of interpretation and I'm sure this is going to be a really popular week.  I cannot wait to see all your gorgeous creations.

The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the theme was football as me and my son have been avidly watching the World Cup (except for the ones at silly o'clock).  I don't usually watch football but love the World Cup as there's lots of excitement and it's done in a few weeks.  I decided to make a football shirt shaped card and I think it turned out super fun.  I hope you like it too.

For a fun touch I added a number to the back of the shirt:

I began by making a top folding card base 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" and die cut the shirt leaving the top of the die overhanging the fold of the card base ever so slightly.  The finished shirt size card is approximately 4 1/4" x 5'.  I used 2 stencils and ink blended grass on the bottom and clouds on the top of the shirt.  I die cut the footballer silhouette image x 4 from black card and stacked them using liquid glue; I then adhered it to the centre using liquid glue.  I stamped the 'happy birthday' sentiment above and the 'have a ball' sentiment below using black ink.  For the inside I again used the grass stencil and ink blended along the bottom.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre and added another silhouette image in the bottom left corner.  A really simple card but I think most men/boys would love it.

Just Us Girls challenge #827 - Word Week

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. I am here again to share my card for this week's Just Us Girls challenge and it's Word Week and Vicki has chosen 'summer'. I'm sure this is going to be a really popular week and I cannot wait to see all your gorgeous creations. 

The stamp set I used seems to be my go-to when I need summer themed cards. The images are so much fun and work really well with the postage frame die.  I went with bright and happy colours and I think this cards sums up most peoples summer: sunshine, cocktails, playing in the pool, flip flops and more cocktails lol!  I hope you like it.

I began by stamping all the images onto alcohol marker friendly card, coloured them with Promarkers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out (I also cut 2 more of everything from white card so that I could layer them).  I also added some highlights with a white gelly roll pen.  I die cut the postage frame and used the matching stencil to add some orange to soften the background (using the left over ink on my blending brush).  I die cut the stitched rectangle layer from a light orange card and adhered them together with double sided tape.  The images were added to the postage frame with liquid glue.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink onto white card and used the coordinating die to cut it out, along with two more from white card to stack.  Again this was adhered with liquid glue.  I added some scrap white card behind the panel for some extra dimension and adhered this to the card base with double sided tape.  I finished off with some orange pearls.  For the inside I cut a white stitched panel and again added the orange stitched layer with double sided tape.  I lightly ink blended along the bottom with the orange blending brush and added another ring and flip flops using liquid glue. I stamped the sentiment in the centre with black ink before adhering the panel with double sided tape.

Just Us Girls #823 - DT card

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. I am back to share my card for this week's Just Us Girls challenge and it's Word Week and Lisa has chosen 'flowers'.  I'm sure this is going to be a really popular week and I cannot wait to see all your gorgeous creations. 

I wanted to use another of my new embossing folder bundles from Gina K Designs and even though my stencilling went a little bit awry in places I think it still turned out great.  I don't use lilacs often enough but I really like this colour combo.  I hope you like it too.

I tried to capture the shimmer:

I began by embossing my white panel with the gorgeous floral embossing folder; it looked so pretty just white but I knew I wanted to add some colour.  I used the coordinating layering stencils to colour the flowers and leaves and I went with a pop of yellow for the flower centres.  I trimmed the panel down to 4" x 5 1/4" and added some scrap white card behind before adhering it to my card base. Unfortunately the stencil shifted on the smaller flower so I embossed and die cut another one, coloured it with the stencils and added it over top with foam squares.  I stamped and die cut the sentiment, using the same colour inks for the larger word and adhered it with foam squares.  I finished off with some black pearls and shimmer pen for a bit of extra sparkle.  For the inside I cut another white panel and added a strip of the embossed background to the bottom with double sided tape.  I ink blended some colour over the embossing with a very light hand and stamped the sentiment in the centre with black ink.  I added the panel to the card base with double sided tape.

Just Us Girls challenge #810 - guest designer card

Hello again lovely friends. I'm back with my second card as guest designer for the Just Us Girls challenge and this week is 'Word Week' and unsurprising the word is Valentine.  

I decided to take the opportunity to make my Valentine's card for hubby.  I had picked up the cute Valentine mice from Lawn Fawn's recent release so had to use them; they are so adorable.  My card started out as 5" x 7" but to have an equal margin around the scalloped die I had to cut it down slightly so the finished card size is 5" x 6 3/8".  I think it turned out super cute and I hope you like it too.

So as I say I originally cut my card base to 10" x 7" and scored it on the long side at 5" to create my 5" x 7" card but later on cut it down a little on the length.  I stamped the images in a light brown ink and used the coordinating stencils and brown and pink ink pads to colour them in.  I've never coloured images with stencils before; I'm not sure if for small images like this you really need them as it probably took just as long to colour them with the stencils as it would have with markers, but the effect is quite soft which is a nice look and something I struggle with using markers (I'm quite heavy handed lol).  I had left the stamps in the Misti so stamped over them with black ink to make the outlines bolder and then cut them out with the matching dies.  I also stamped all of the sentiments in black ink.  I had just received some heart dies that I ordered so cut two white hearts and the scallop layers from kraft coloured card and adhered them with liquid glue.  I die cut 3 of the sentiments with sentiment strips dies and the last one with a smaller heart.  I cut a piece of speckled patterned paper and adhered it onto the scalloped rectangle which was also die cut from the kraft coloured card.  I added the two mice onto the white hearts with foam squares and added the 'mwah' sentiment with liquid glue.  I stamped the 'luv u' sentiment directly onto the second heart.  I adhered the hearts onto the background with liquid glue and the strip sentiments were adhered with foam squares.  I decided to die cut some tiny hearts from white card and ink blended them with the same pink ink pads I used for the mice and added them onto the background with liquid glue.  I added some scrap white card behind the scalloped rectangle and then this was adhered to the card base with double sided tape. As a finishing touch I added some crystal glaze to all the hearts, which looks really pretty in real life. For the inside I cut the next size down scalloped rectangle from kraft coloured card and added a white panel onto it with liquid glue.  I stamped part the sentiment directly in the centre with black ink and used a stamped and die cut 'happy' above it with liquid glue.  I adhered a strip of the patterned paper at the bottom of the panel and added the third mouse in the bottom right corner along with a few more hearts.  The panel was adhered to the card base with double sided tape.
