Shark Week 2024 IG Card Hop

Happy Tuesday friends.  I'm taking part in the second annual IG hop to celebrate Shark Week.  The card hop is hosted by my good friend Kelly and today's hop will showcase some fintastic cards featuring all things shark to celebrate Shark Week.  Kelly is personally giving away an amazing prize of 3 stamp sets so make sure you comment on her stop for a chance to win.   You can find out all the details over on my IG account.
For my card I've used an older Lawn Fawn stamp set, but I've only just gotten my hands on it (I know I'm way behind the times) and I'm sure lots of my fellow hoppers will be using this cute little stamp set too.
Here is my card:
A closer look at the cute images:
Plus I decorated the inside:
I began by stamping my images onto alcohol marker friendly card and coloured them with Promarkers; I used the matching dies to cut them out.  I die cut a decorative stitched panel from white card and using some blue scraps from my bin used the same die to cut smaller sections.  I also took a tiny scallop die to cut the edges of the blue pieces.  Before adhering them to my panel I ink blended the blue pieces using a stencil to create 'waves'.  I added the blue pieces with liquid glue.  I mixed a couple of stamps to create my sentiment and stamped it at the top of the white panel with black ink.  I adhered my images with a mix of liquid glue and foam squares.  At the last minute I decided to give my shark a party hat so coloured and die cut that and added it with a tiny foam square.  The panel was added to the card base with foam tape.  For the inside I repeated the same steps to create my panel and water, stamped my sentiment in the upper centre with black ink and adhered another shark and bubbles with liquid glue.  I also stamped the duh-nuh sentiment below the shark.  The panel was added to the card base with double sided tape.  A fun birthday card and I'm happy with how it turned out.

We are also sharing fun and interesting shark facts in our instagram posts so I thought I would add one here too.

Did you know - Sharks Don’t Have Vocal Chords.  Despite the soundtracks that follow sharks in the movies, sharks are silent creatures. This is because sharks don’t have vocal chords, making them unable to make noise like other marine animals such as dolphins, whales, or seals.  Interesting huh?

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Calendar challenge - add a sentiment
Critter Crazy challenge - ATG with a featured critter (hope my shark and fish are allowed)
Cut it Up challenge - critters (real or fantasy) - hope my shark and fish are allowed!
Everybody Art challenge - we love stamping
Get Creative challenge - use red, white and/or blue
Inkspirational challenge - use stencils optional use paste
Stamping Sensations challenge - ATG optional twist Christmas in July
Stencil Fun challenge - use a stencil optional shades of blue
The Paper Funday challenge - ATG option critter crazy
We Love Stamping challenge - sun, sea, sand or ATG

Please swim on over to IG to see the amazing shark creations in the hop.  Don't forget to leave a comment on Kelly's stop (@createwithkas) to be in the running to win her fantastic giveaway.

Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for stopping by.

Love and hugs,

Shark week part 2 IG hop

Hello friends; I hope your Friday has been fantastic so far.  The weather here in South Wales has been decidedly un-summery today; we've had torrential rain all day.  I've been happily watching the Wimbledon men's semi-finals so I didn't mind lol!

I have another card for Shark Week again this hop is organised by my good friend Kelly and today we have been given a prize by Newton's Nook to give away to one lucky winner.

Everyone who leaves a comment on the hop will be in the running the win the prize so pop over to my Instagram and follow along the hop.  Luckily I had another shark image so here is my card for the shark hop no.2:

and a close up of my happy shark:

I stamped the cute shark image and coloured him with Promarkers, I cut him out with the matching die and put him to one side.  I used a fab piece of 12 x 12 patterned paper, which I thought looked a bit like waves and cut a panel 3 3/4" x 5".  I also cut a smaller piece the same width and about 2" tall but fussy cut along the 'wave' so that I could place my shark behind it.  I placed the panel onto a navy card cut to 4" x 5 1/4" and stamped some little fish at the top to create a scene.  I added my fussy cut piece at the bottom with foam squares and then tucked my shark behind, also popped up on foam tape.  The sentiment was white heat embossed onto the navy card and cut with a banner die with a flag only on one side and this was placed at the top right corner of the card.  I didn't feel I needed to add any embellishments as the paper was quite busy.  A really fun card, I hope you agree!

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Critter Crazy - ATG feature a critter (not sure if a shark would be considered a critter - delete me if not allowed)
Addicted to Stamps & More challenge - die cuts and/or stencils
Dream Valley challenge - dies and/or punches

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Love and hugs,

Shark week IG hop

Happy Wednesday friends.  I've got 2 posts planned for your today - the first one is for a card hop I'm participating in on Instagram to celebrate Shark Week.  The card hop is hosted by my good friend Kelly and today's hop will showcase some fintastic cards featuring all things shark to celebrate Shark Week. Thank you to Whimsy Stamps and Hero Arts for supporting our hop and for your fabulous prize giveaways for 2 lucky winners.  Check out all the details over on my IG account.

Here is my card:

and a close up of my shark:

I began by stamping the shark and colouring him with Promarkers.  I fussy cut him out and added glaze to his eyes.  The background is a sheet of patterned paper but I added extra details from the stamp set.  The sea bed was stamped along with the sea grass and I coloured the lower part of the paper with a light brown Promarker to mimic the sand.  I also stamped some fish in the background for some added interest.  The sentiment was stamped onto navy card, white heat embossed and die cut with a banner die.  The paper was added onto a navy card panel and this was adhered to my card blank with double sided tape.  The shark and sentiment were added with foam tape.  For a final finishing touch I added a couple of clear rain drop embellishments to resemble bubbles.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Catz challenge - ATG option sparkle/shine
Critter Crazy challenge - ATG feature a critter (again delete if sharks not allowed)

Before I go I thought I would share one interesting fact about sharks.  Long before dinosaurs roamed the Earth, sharks were swimming in our oceans. In fact, they’ve been around for over 400 million years. They don’t have bones (their skeletons are made of cartilage), though, so there are no fossils to be found.

Please swim on over to IG and give our sponsors some love then swim on back to see the amazing shark creations in the hop.  Don't forget there are 2 prizes up for grabs so comment on the hop for a chance to win.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back later with my card for Week 5 of the Summer Crush Wednesdays IG hop.

Love and hugs,
