Krafty Chicks challenge #754 - birthday

Good morning lovely friends. I hope you're all doing ok and having a great week so far. It's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week is Week 1, our theme is 'birthday' and our hostess is Leanne. We always need birthday cards, gift packaging and decorations so I'm sure you will find this week a breeze!  We hope you will come over and join in the fun with us.

I always need birthday cards but didn't have anyone in mind when I made my card so I just had fun.  I haven't used this die set for ages so decided to give it some love.  I hope you like it.
Here is my card:
A close look at the die cut:
Plus I decorated the inside:
I began by die cutting the large word die which comes in three separate dies.  The background was cut from white card, the happy from red card and the birthday from pink card.  I added some shading to the happy and birthday words with a slightly darker ink for some extra interest.  I adhered them together with liquid glue.  I cut a white panel 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" and once again grabbed the snowy background stamp (as it really looks like splatter to me) and used the same red and pink inks to create a fun and playful background for my sentiment to rest on.  I matted this onto a pink layer with double sided tape.  I added the die cut sentiment with foam tape.  I finished by added a few clear sequins around the word and added shimmer pen all over the happy and birthday words.  The panel was added to my card base with foam tape.  For the inside I cut a white panel 4" x 5 1/4" and used some left over pieces from the background, adding them at the top and bottom of the panel.  I also added a thin strip of pink card to cover the join.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre of the panel with black ink.  The panel was added to the card base with double sided tape.  A really fun card and you could make it in every colour of the rainbow and it would still look fab.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

As You Like It challenge - stamping or digi (I didn't have a printer for a while so went back to stamping and I love it and now prefer a physical stamp). My background is stamped.
Aud Sentiments challenge - love/anniversary/wedding and/or shimmer + sentiment (I used shimmer pen on my die cut sentiment)
Colorful Options challenge - February mood board (I chose the colours red and pink)
Craft Rocket challenge - happy birthday
The Crafter's Cafe challenge - ATG optional twist birthday
Daisy Chain challenge - layer it up (my die cut is layered)
Dragonfly Dreams challenge - CAS (clean and simple)
Everybody Art challenge - die cuts and punches

Unicorn challenge - dots and/or stripes

Congrats card

Happy Sunday lovely friends.  I've had a busy few days (but an exciting one) as my lovely son helped me re-organise/re-arrange my craft room and although I keep forgetting where I now have put things I am beyond happy with the way things are now arranged.  I don't have a huge, fancy craft space but it's bigger than some and I am grateful that my hubby has allowed me to take over half our dining room to accommodate all my stuff.

I have a card to share today that I made for my niece.  She did amazingly well in her A levels and received 2 x A* and 2 A grades.  I wanted to celebrate her achievement so dug out an older stamp set from Concord & 9th.  Here is my card:

I decorated the inside too:

I began by stamping a lined notepaper background stamp in sea glass ink.  I took the arrow stamp from the stamp set and masked it so that I could have the point at the top of my card and the tail at the bottom and this was stamped in red ink.  I did make a mistake on the bottom but I fixed that by colouring around the arrow with a white posca pen and adding some black dots with a black marker.  It was a happy accident but I really liked the end result.  I stamped the sentiments in the same sea glass ink and added some stars in-between them, again using the red ink.  I die cut some stars and an arrow from black card and added them to the panel and also added some Nuvo aqua shimmer pen to bling them up.  I decorated the inside with a strip of the notepaper background that I had left over and another star and arrow.  The panels were both added onto a green mottled paper and again onto a black mat.  The finished card was mini slimline size - 6" x 3".

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Allsorts challenge - ATG or use die cuts
Daisy Chain challenge - dots and/or stripes
Inspired By challenge - inspired by leggings (I was inspired by the colours)
Sweet Stampin' challenge - doodling (I hope my doodled dots are enough)
Unicorn challenge - layer it up

I hope you have a wonderful week.  I will be back on Wednesday for my card for the next instalment in the Falling for Wednesdays IG hop.  I'd love it if you could pop back and check it out.

Love and hugs,

AAA birthday challenge #53 - Animals

Good morning lovely friends and Happy 1st September.  Another month rolls by and we are into autumn, although we didn't have much of a summer really did we?  All the schools and universities will be starting back soon but thankfully my boys are grown up now so no more of the last minute panic buying for back to school stuff lol!

I'm here to share my DT card for this month's AAA Birthday challenge and this month we want to see your animals.  I love using cute critters on my cards and I have the honour of choosing one of the winners this month (Maaike will be choosing the second winner).  I am looking forward to seeing all your lovely animal creations.  I needed a card for a friend who loves cats so it was perfect timing for my card.

Here is my cute kitty card:

a closer look at the cats:

I had a spare cat so decorated the inside too:

I stamped quite a few different cats; coloured them with Promarkers and used the matching dies to cut them out.  I used a paw print stencil for a subtle background using light grey ink; I didn't want anything too busy but it adds a little interest behind my images.  I die cut the number 50 from hot pink card and also cut and coloured a balloon and a present for a little more pink on my card.  I very rarely make square cards these days but thought I could fit more cats on my card with this size card.  I added the paw print panel onto a hot pink square of card and adhered it to my card base with liquid glue.  The cats, balloon and present were added with thin foam squares and the 50 and the sentiment strip were added with liquid glue.  I finished with some shimmer pen to the balloon and present for some sparkle.  As I had one cat left over after I completed my card I decided to add it to the inside of my card, along with a birthday sentiment.  Again this panel was added to hot pink card and adhered to the inside of my card with liquid glue.  A super cute card for a cat lover I think.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Cardz for Galz challenge - cute animals or insects
As You Like It challenge - favourite animal (and why) - I love all animals but we've always had cats; they are so much fun, but everything is on their terms and they keep you on your toes lol!

Pearly Sparkles challenge - pink, pearls and/or sparkles (use at least one)

Happy birthday friend

Hello again, I'm back to share a card I made for this week's MFT color challenge.  I loved the colours of the challenge especially as they weren't ones I would have chosen to use together - that's the point of a challenge isn't it lol!  Here is my card:

I began by die cutting the background but I kept it all together by taping it on the back.  I then die cut the lovely tree and decided it would look fun with all the colours in-laid back in (which I instantly regretted as it was a painstaking job) but I think it looks awesome.  I die cut the friend letters 4 times and adhered them together so that they resemble a chipboard thickness and coated them with my nuvo shimmer pen.  I used foam tape to add my background piece onto the card and also some thin foam squares to add the circle onto this panel.  I stamped a sentiment and die cut it with a banner die and adhered this on top of the circle with liquid glue.  I then added the friend die cut letters at the bottom of my card.  I finished off with some nuvo glimmer glaze on the 3 largest hearts and a few enamel dots.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Mix it up challenge - anything goes/option in-laid die cut

Crafty friends challenge - happy birthday

Unicorn challenge - make it feminine

Allsorts challenge - anything feminine goes

I hope you're having a good week so far.  The weather here has been lovely and sunny, although chilly but it's a sure sign that spring is on the way.

Until next time, take care and stay safe.

Hugs,

Floral wreath card

Hello again friends.  I hope your Monday has gone better for you than mine.  My husband has been unwell since yesterday and went for a Covid test this morning so this means I have to stay home from work until he has his result - fingers crossed it will be back tomorrow and negative, otherwise we will all have to self isolate for 14 days!!  The trouble is flu is so similar to Covid that without a test you cannot be 100% sure can you?

On a brighter note I have another card to share with you that I made for another of my lovely Design Team.  It has an autumnal feel due to the colours but it was for her birthday.

Here is the card:

a close up of the image:

I began by stamping the gorgeous image onto a white card panel and coloured it with Promarkers, I also added a small sentiment into the centre.  This panel was then layered onto green and orange card before adding to my white card blank.  I decided to add a small die-cut butterfly and a few sequins for interest.  The finishing touch was some sparkle onto the flowers and butterfly.  A really clean and simple card once again but the image is so pretty I didn't think it needed anything else.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:

Sweet Stampers challenge - things with wings
Chocolate Baroque challenge - wings with anything goes option
Allsorts challenge - autumn colours
Crafty Friends challenge - autumn colours
Inspired by challenge - colors of fall (I hope it's ok I didn't use the sketch)

So hopefully I'll see you again in a couple of days with good news!  Take care of yourselves and stay safe.

Love and hugs,

50th birthday card

A friend in work recently celebrated her 50th birthday so I made her a happy and bright card to celebrate.  I decided to make a cocktail themed card as she was going away with friends so it seemed very apt.

Here is my card:

I began by stamping the fantastic glass images and die cut them out with the matching dies.  The umbrella, stirrer and orange were also separate images but again had matching dies.  I added some Nuvo aqua shimmer pen to the drinks and they really shine in real life.  I added the die cut drinks to a white panel and stamped the 50 cheers alongside.  This was then added to a piece of patterned paper and attached to my card base.  I stamped a secondary sentiment below the white panel.  I didn't think the card needed any embellishments so left it as it was.

I am going to enter my card into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - bright colours
Sweet Stampin challenge - favourite colour combo (I love soft pastel colours)
Crafty Hazelnut's Paper challenge - August 2020 (use patterned paper)
Allsorts challenge - summer fun

I hope you've had a good start to the week and the weather has improved.  It's showery here but still very humid so not an ideal combination!

Enjoy the rest of your week and take care.

Card ingredients:
Clearly Besotted Stamps - raise a glass (I have the older version)
Clearly Besotted Stamps - basic numbers
MFT - beary special birthday (for the sentiment)
Versafine onyx black ink
Papermania spots & stripes - pastels 8x8 pad

MFT summer school 2020 day 5

Hi again friends.  I've managed to play catch-up and I'm finally graduating from MFT summer school 2020 with my contribution to Day 5.  I've never participated before but I've had lots of fun making my cards this week and it has been great to challenge myself using techniques I've not tried before.

Here is my final card for the MFT summer school and today's theme is all about white space.

"The idea of white space doesn’t refer to a primarily white card (though often, as is the case with today’s project, this is true) but rather, the idea of leaving a significant portion of your design open, free from embellishment, allowing your focal point to truly shine".

Here is my card for today:

close up of my card:

I stamped the adorable images using Memento tuxedo black ink onto a white card panel.  I fussy cut some post it notes and masked off the images before blending squeezed lemonade distress oxide ink over the panel.  I removed the masks and then coloured my images with Promarkers.  The colour choices were inspired by this week's MFT colour challenge 147 and the layout was inspired by this week's MFT sketch challenge 502.  The sentiment was stamped with Hero Arts soft brown shadow ink and the only thing I added was some Nuvo shimmer pen to the balloon.  I did find it quite hard to leave it without embellishments but I think it turned out super cute.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my summer school projects and appreciate you stopping by.

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

MFT sketch challenge 502 (which I rotated):

I hope the storms haven't been too bad where you are; we had some thunder and lightening here last night and a few brisk rain showers but it really hasn't been as bad as some parts of the country.  My thoughts go out to everyone struggling with power outages and flood damage and especially the people who lost their lives in the train derailment in Scotland; so tragic.

Take care and stay safe.
