Uniko June Release: Day 4 introduction

Good morning friends and welcome back to my blog. It's day four and the final day of introductions for Uniko's June release. Today's introduction is another brilliant stencil called 'Ink & Flip: Chevron Duo'. You know how much I love these fantastic stencils; there are so many ways to use them just by flipping the stencils different ways. I needed to make a Father's Day card for my hubby and this stencil was perfect.  I used 4 shades of blue ink pads to create the pattern and kept it really simple (as my husband doesn't really do fussy).

I made a 5" x 7" card so cut a white panel to 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and using the 4 ink pads created my background.  I decided to cut the panel along the edge of the stencilling (top and bottom) so that it would have a fun zig-zag edge and I added some scrap white card behind for dimension.  I cut another white panel and added the stencilled piece on top using double sided tape.  I stamped the sentiments above and below the panel with black ink (for the Father's Day I had use the Mother's Day stamp and do some masking and replace the mother with father).  I adhered the panel to the card base with double sided tape.  I didn't add any embellishments as I loved it as it was.  For the inside I cut another white panel and stamped the sentiment in the upper centre with black ink.  I stencilled once again and cut out a small piece to go at the bottom of the panel, which was adhered with liquid glue. The panel was then added to the card base with double sided tape.

Krafty Chicks challenge #719 - Stamps

Good morning friends; it's Thursday so that means it's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge.  As it's the start of the month we are back to Week 1 which means our theme this week is 'Stamps', so we would like to see a stamp/digi on your project. 

It was my brother-in-law's birthday recently and today I'm sharing the card I made for him.  He took his cards away on holiday with him so didn't fuss too much, although most men prefer this anyway I find.

I decorated the inside:

I began by stamping the image onto alcohol marker friendly card and coloured it with my Promarkers.  I also added some puffy stuff to make the foam look dimensional.  I cut it into a square and added a brown mat behind.  I had already created the background for a different project but hadn't used it.  It was simply a white panel with some black and gold splatter over it.  I again matted it onto a brown panel and adhered it to my card base with double sided tape.  I wanted to add some interest so took a strip of patterned paper, added a brown mat panel and adhered it to my background along the left side of the card.  I attached the image panel over top with foam squares.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink and cut it into a rectangle before adding a brown mat behind.  The was added to the card with double sided tape.  In the same stamp set as the beer glasses were some label type images and smaller bottle top style stamps.  I stamped them onto white card, inked them with a brown ink pad.  I fussy cut the label and used a small circle punch to cut out the smaller ones.  I added the label with foam squares and the circles with liquid glue.  For the inside I cut a white panel, simply added a strip of the patterned paper to the very bottom and added a strip of brown card above.  I adhered this onto a brown mat panel and stamped the sentiment in the centre with black ink.  I added one of the small punched circles to the bottom right corner.  The whole panel was then adhered to my card base with double sided tape.  The finished card is 5" x 7".

AAA Birthday challenge #59 Geometric

Hello friends and welcome to March!  This year definitely needs to slow down as I can't believe we are at the start of the third month already.  On a positive note at least spring is getting a little closer *yay*.  I'm here today to share my card for this month's AAA Birthday challenge.  Our hostess this month is Vicki and she has chosen 'geometric'.  Our lovely guest for this month is Karen Rogers so pop over and leave her some love.  

I love the look of geometric designs and they are perfect for masculine cards.  I needed a card for my brother-in-law so it was the perfect challenge for me.  Here is my card:

I began by cutting my white panel to 4" x 5 1/4".  I took some triangle dies and cut 1 large one from red card, 2 medium cut from red and black card and 1 tiny one cut from black card.  I took a strip of black and white striped patterned paper and adhered it to the left side of my panel with double sided tape.  I added the larger red triangle with liquid glue overlapping the paper and placed the medium black triangle over top with foam squares.  I then added the red medium triangle to the bottom left, again overlapping the paper, and added the tiny black triangle with a foam square.  The sentiment was stamped towards to the right side between my triangle clusters.  No embellishments as I thought it looked cool as it was.  For the inside I added a very thin piece of the patterned paper to the bottom of my panel and added a medium red and tiny black triangle just above in the bottom left with liquid glue.  I stamped a sentiment in black ink in the centre.
