CASE IT IG Hop - June 26

Hello again friends. I hope you've had a great start to your weekend. I'm here to share this month's card for the CASE IT Instagram Hop where we find a project on Instagram that inspires us and we will share that project as well as the project we’ve created. There are so many beautiful creations on Instagram the only difficult part is narrowing down which one to CASE (which means Copy And Share Everything).

This month I was inspired by Nancy (@nauntie over on IG); I love every card she makes as she does CAS so amazingly.  As soon as I saw her card I was in love, her Christmas card is just gorgeous and I loved the embossed background and large die cut sentiment.  I decided to make my card an anniversary card but you can definitely see that my card was inspired by hers! Here is her card for my inspiration:

Isn't her card just perfect? Using Ardyth's LIMES process (you can watch her video here) we list what we see - Nancy has used white, lime green and red as her main colours, an embossing folder in the background, alphabet letter dies, a smaller sub-sentiment and a strip of vellum.  So I followed the layout and used a dark green, white and gold colour combo and used a large die cut word instead of her letters for my main sentiment.  I also added a few pieces of leafery which Nancy didn't have.  I didn't really omit anything this time and my spin is that my card is anniversary instead of Christmas and also it's 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" in size. I hope you like it.

Plus I decorated the inside:

I began by embossing a white panel cut to 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" (I also embossed a dark green panel to see which one I preferred; I felt the dark green one was too dark for the front so kept it for the inside instead). I die cut the 'happy' word, once from dark green and twice from white so that I stack them for extra dimension. I die cut the anniversary word from gold mirror card and also one of the leaves.  The other leaf was cut with vellum and I also cut a 1" strip to go around the front of my card. I also cut the shadow for the 'happy' word from vellum.  I wrapped the vellum strip around the embossed panel and added some double sided tape on the back to secure it, I then added a dark green mat layer behind the embossed panel.  I added the vellum shadow layer behind the stacked 'happy' and added that over the vellum strip with foam squares. I tucked the two leaves behind the vellum strip and adhered them with a combination of foam squares and liquid glue.  The 'anniversary' word was adhered below the strip with liquid glue.  I adhered the panel onto the card case with double sided tape.  I didn't add any embellishments as I wanted to try and keep Nancy's CAS look as much as possible.  For the inside I cut a white panel 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" and added a piece of dark green embossed panel to the bottom with double sided tape.  I also added a thin strip of the gold mirror card above it with liquid glue.  I die cut two more leaves, one from vellum and one from gold mirror card, and added them in the bottom left corner with liquid glue.  I decided to stamp the sentiment with a dark green ink, as opposed to my usual black, as there was no other black on my card. I adhered the panel onto the card base with double sided tape.

AAA Birthday challenge #79 - Music

Hello again friends.  I'm back again to share my card for this month's AAA Birthday challenge and this month our theme is 'music' which is such a fun challenge with so many possibilities such as die cut or stamped musical notes, music paper or even images singing or playing instruments. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone interprets the theme this month. Our guest designer this month is the lovely Sigrid so please pop over to her blog and leave her some love.

I used an older (but new to me) stamp and die set from MFT to make a fun birthday card for a friend. I know they are probably for kids but I think they work for us oldies too lol!  I went for a white and purple colour scheme and I really like how it turned out.  The card size is 5" x 6".  I hope you like it.

I began by making my card base from white card cut to 10" x 6" and scored along the long side at 5". I then stamped the images onto alcohol marker friendly card, coloured them with Promarkers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  I also cut 3 more from white card so that I could layer them up for some extra dimension.  I cut a piece of white card 4 5/8" x 5 5/8" and embossed it with the music notes folder and matted it onto a purple panel with double sided tape.  I cut two stars from vellum so that my images would have a grounding piece to separate them from the background and I added the images to them with liquid glue.  I stamped the two sentiments with black ink and used a sentiment strips die to cut them out.  I also die cut 3 stars from the purple card to use as embellishments.  I placed the all the elements onto the background with foam squares.  I added some scrap white card behind the panel and then adhered it to my card base with double sided tape.  For the inside I cut another white panel and adhered a strip of white card which I embossed with the folder to the bottom with double sided tape.  I also added a thin strip of purple card above it with liquid glue.  I adhered this panel onto a purple mat layer with double sided tape.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre with black ink and finished off with a die cut star in the top right corner.  The panel was adhered to the card base with double sided tape.

Summer Soiree IG Card Hop - Week 3

Hello friends; we've made it to the middle of the week *yay*. The weather has been quite showery here this morning in South Wales but it's still quite warm and muggy!  Wesley the puppy isn't impressed with the rain so we are back to the puppy pads inside!  Let's hope it dries up for the rest of the day/week.  We're never happy are we lol!

It's week 3 of our Summer Soiree IG card hop, which has been organised by my lovely friend Kelly.  This week is all about 'The 4th of July', although there is an option for fireworks, colours of your flag or red, white & blue if you don't celebrate.  

Obviously not being the USA I don't really need to make 4th of July cards so I went with a red, white and blue colour scheme instead.  Me and hubby are also celebrating our 31st Wedding Anniversary today so decided to combine the two.  Here is my card:

I began by stamping my images onto alcohol marker friendly card before colouring them with Promarkers.  I used the matching dies to cut them out.  My card base is 5" x 7" so wanted my panel to be 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" so cut my 3 sections of red. white and blue card approximately 4 1/2" x 2.2" each and attached them to some copy paper with double sided tape.  I also added a panel of white card behind for extra stability.  I die cut the happy anniversary and husband words from white card, stacking them each three times to give them some extra dimension.  I added the cute images with foam squares and the words and hearts with liquid glue.  For the inside I cut 3 strips of red, white and blue card 4 1/2" x 3/4" and adhered them to the bottom of a white panel with double sided tape.  I stamped the image over the strips with black ink and added a white heart with liquid glue.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre of the panel with black ink.  This panel was added to the card base with double sided tape.  A really fun card and I hope you like it.

Pinwheel card

Hello crafty friends.  I hope you've had a fantastic weekend and even if you are not a royalist you enjoyed the Coronation bank holiday.  I loved watching all the pomp and ceremony and the tradition was definitely a sight to see.  I think for those watching from abroad it must have seemed magical.  It was just a shame that the weather was so bad.

I'm sharing my first ever pinwheel card that I made for my son's 29th birthday.  I originally bought a die to cut the card shape but it was too small for what I wanted so I just made my own.  I think it worked out ok, even if I couldn't make an envelope big enough to fit it in lol (the size when laid flat was 12 1/2" x 7 1/2")!  He has been a drummer for many years, and was even in a band at one point, so every year I try to incorporate drumming into his card.  

This post is going to be photo heavy as it was really hard to photograph.  

The main components are from MFT stamps, but the large sentiment is Lawn Fawn, the personalisation is Gina K Designs and the verse is Honey Bee Stamps.  I tried to stick to a colour scheme of black, red, white and grey as I think these colours work really well together.

All the die cuts were stacked up at least 3 high for added stability.  I am really happy with the finished result and thankfully my son loved it too and appreciated all the hard work I put into it.  Fair play to him he is my biggest cheerleader and takes an interest in my cardmaking.

Good morning dear friends.  I’m here this morning as we are midway through our Mega Christmas challenge over at passion for promarkers challenge and it is the turn of team 1 to offer some more inspiration.  I am lucky enough to be on both team 1 and team 2 so I can share another card with you today.  As you know the theme is “celebrations” and the challenge will run until 3rd January 2012.  We have some amazing prizes up for grabs which you can read all about in my original post here.  Don’t forget you must use your promarkers, flex markers, aqua markers or tria markers to be eligible for one of our fantastic prizes and obviously follow the very simple theme.  Here is my card:

My son asked me to make an 18th birthday card for his friend, and as he plays guitar in a band with my son I had to use this fantastic image from Kenny K called ‘rock dude’.  I coloured the image with promarkers and flex markers and cut out the image using my neglected rectangle nesties.  I embossed one half of the card with a perfect musical note embossing folder and added some twine and pearls.  Again another fuss free card as if my son’s friend is anything like my son, then this will be perfect.  Most boys this age will just glance at it anyway lol!
